Argos sells padded bras for young girls

Retailer Argos under fire from concerned child welfare chiefs for its decision to sell padded bras for girls as young as nine. The bras are available in a range of colours and sizes from 6A and are labelled "padded" or "booster". They are part of a pre-teens fashion collection called "Tammy" that even includes tiny G-strings. The controversial collection is featured in the kids and babies section of the Argos catalogue.

Dr Michelle Elliott, of children's charity Kidscape, said: "This is totally wrong. Let kids be kids. Don't push sexuality on them before their time." An Argos spokesman was reported as saying the collection was one of its best-selling lines and it had no plans to withdraw the "fashionable items".
