Full figure bra, the Internet & Breast cancer research

Launched in mid-August by Linda Parrish-Smith, former lingerie buyer for the local Westgate Department Stores Group, the website www.Double-D.com sells quality brand name lingerie, concentrating on hard-to-find cup and back sizes. The company believes it can give customers a simpler, more convenient and more enjoyable on-line shopping experience than any other on-line lingerie retailer, as well as a much wider choice in the harder to find sizes.

Linda commented \"In my 12 years buying for Westgate I\'d seen the difficulties fuller figured women had finding top quality, flattering and sexy lingerie. Traditional bricks and mortar shops can only serve a small area and print-based mail order also has a limited reach. So I put together some beautiful ranges that all include D, DD and E cups then set up www.Double-D.com to provide convenient mail order style home shopping to a global audience.\"

The site has been designed to be simple to use, easy to navigate, quick to load, secure when purchasing and very informative. And that aim appears to have been achieved with customers and Internet professionals making comments such as: \"The site is a joy to use, I must say.\" Site designer Nick Summers said, \"We wanted to provide an enjoyable place to visit, not just a catalogue. So we\'ve included interesting articles, help for men buying lingerie (50% of our early customers are men!), and of course plenty of information about our links to breast cancer research.\"

As a purely Internet-based company it was decided to put the savings in overheads to good use by donating 50p of every order to breast cancer research. Linda had been involved in fund raising events, particularly for breast cancer charities, so this seemed a natural progression. Customers can also pool orders to fund-raise, with Double-D.com giving an extra £10 for every order over £150. All the money raised is divided equally between breast cancer research projects at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund (registered charity 209631) and Breakthrough Breast Cancer (registered charity 1062636) (-Please Note: We no longer donate directly to either Charity-).
